This post is also availble in German.

A few weeks ago I received an email from a lovely reader asking how we handle Christmas from a sustainability point of view. While I am certainly not an expert on sustainability, I am nevertheless continuously trying to work on my carbon footprint in everyday life. In fact, last year my husband and I decided against a Christmas tree in our apartment (we still had one at my parents’ house). This year I wanted to find out more about the sustainability aspect of Christmas, so read on if you’re curious about a green Christmas.

The Christmas tree

The Christmas tree stands for the coziness of the Holidays and I feel like it is the heart of the Christmas celebrations. But the Christmas tree has gotten a bad reputation over the years. In contrast to the United States, plastic trees are not very common here in Germany. This of course results in millions of pine trees being cut just for the sake of our Christmas celebrations. However, there are ways to have a sustainable Christmas with a real tree.

What’s wrong with conventional Christmas trees?

Conventional trees are grown in mono cultures, they are treated with pesticides and are often imported from far away. Mono cultures prevent natural pest control, which is why the conventional trees have to be sprayed with chemicals. To be honest, I never really thought about this, because I always thought that every family goes out cutting their own trees from a eco-conscious tree plant. Now that I know this, I really do not feel like having a tree with pesticides in my home in the future.

Organic Christmas trees

Buying an organic tree is a more eco-friendly option, however, they are still hard to find. I asked the ladies on my favorite organic farmers market stand for some tips, they will most likely be able to help you find organic Christmas trees in your neighborhood. Organic Christmas tree farmers do not use harmful pesticides, and often have sheep eating the weeds around the trees. How cute is that? These lists provide names with lots of organic Christmas tree farmers in Germany.

Bund

Bund Niedersachen

Naturland

If you know of any organic Christmas tree farms near you, be sure to let me know in the comments below.

No Christmas tree

Of course it’s the most sustainable way to simply skip the Christmas tree. Saying no is always the most eco-friendly way. I salute the people chose to skip the tree, but for me, this is not (yet) an option.

DIY Christmas tree

The one thing I might find myself doing in the future is this DIY Christmas tree from lose branches. You can re-use it every year and even decorate it with ornaments. I found this example via Pinterest on Lavendelblog.de , but I am sure you’ll find lots of English tutorials on Pinterest, too.

Renting a Christmas tree

Renting your very own living Christmas tree has become more and more available around the world. There are several companies in Germany that offer this amazing service. They deliver the tree in December, then you need to take really good care of the tree while it’s living in your home until they pick it up again after the Holidays.

Germany
Weihnachtsbaumfreunde
Rent-A-Plant (Hamburg)
Green Tree (NRW, Paderborn)
Weihnachtsbaum Mitte (Berlin)

UK
cotswoldfir.com
loveachristmastree.co.uk
forever-green-christmas.co.uk

USA
Rent-a-Christmas (NY)
Living Christmas (Los Angeles)

Natural tree ornaments

I love all things neutral and white, so I am not into lametta and glitter on trees anyways. Turns out that the latter include micro plastic, which is something we should no longer buy anyways. So decorating your tree with paper stars, hay ornaments or glitter-free glass ornaments is the most sustainable way.

Gift-wrapping

My sister is the wrapping-queen in my family, and she has always re-used the simple brown wrapping paper that you use to wrap packages in. Just as with ornaments, I prefer simple, uni-colored wrapping paper – or no wrapping paper at all. In the UK alone, you could wrap the earth eight times with the amount of paper used around the Holidays. How crazy is that. That’s why I have fallen in love with Furoshiki, a Japanese gift wrapping technique using fabrics.

I know, I will never become a DIY-blogger in my lifetime, but hey, I did my best. And honestly, it’s a lot easier to wrap your gifts into fabrics than paper. If you’re not sure how to do this, you’ll find plenty of Furoshiki tutorials on Pinterest.

Washi tape instead of plastic tape

I feel like the Japanese have invented sustainable Christmas. Just kidding, but Washi tape is also a Japanese invention. The paper tape is actually a more sustainable option than plastic tape, and it looks a lot prettier, too!

Presents

DIY edible gifts

I love making my own gifts for my family and friends. A few years ago I shared this savory walnut granola, a DIY Turmeric Latte mix and a superfood hot chocolate with matching gift tags in this blog post. DIY natural cosmetics or room sprays is also a great gift idea.

Cookbooks

Honestly, I love receiving really good cookbooks. To be honest, the more expensive a book is, the better the recipes, at least that’s what I found. All my most-loved cookbooks (such as Amy Chaplin*, Anna Jones* or Green Kitchen Stories*) are all around 30 Euros each and worth every penny. Of course I would be delighted if you give away one of my books* this Christmas, if you speak German, of course.

Reducing the presents madness

My husband’s family stopped the “presents madness” a few years ago. Now, every family member draws a name and gets the chosen person one gift that for a maximum of 50 Euros. I feel like their presents have gotten a lot more meaningful since they incorporated this as their Christmas routine.

Giving time

The best presents are not tangible, or do you remember the gift you’ve received from your aunt five years ago? What I will always remember are the theater visits, the concerts or the small trips that I have been gifted over the years.

Donating to good causes

Instead of spending money on things we don’t need, we could donate our money to great causes. I will donate money to our local animal shelter this year, but there are so many organizations doing amazing charity work near you, I’m sure. Be sure to do a background check on the organizations that you do not know yet (I know it’s sad that this has to be said), so your money really reaches the cause you want to support.

Buying sustainable and eco-friendly gifts

Still want to give presents? Totally understandable. But perhaps try to ask your loved ones if there is something that they really need. I know, this ruins the surprise in many cases, but at least you can be sure that your present is used and won’t end up on landfill. I shared a list of sustainable brands in this blogpost.

The Christmas feast

An easy way to make Christmas more eco-friendly is to eat more plants. Perhaps this is the year to give a lentil loaf a try? Plant-based menus are often much more creative, because – let’s face it – we plant-eaters sometimes try to show-off with our food. In our family, the plant-based dishes are always the first ones gone. If you like, check out this plant-based Christmas menu from last year.

Reducing food waste

It’s sad to say, but food waste is the third biggest contributor to greenhouse gases (source). I know that the whole climate and sustainability talk can feel overwhelming at times. I myself often find myself questioning the impact of my choices on fighting climate change. Food waste, however, is something that we can easily prevent by planning our meals better or making better use of leftovers. Since a lot of food is wasted over the Holidays as we tend to over-shop before Christmas, we should all make an effort to waste less food this year. You can also call up your local food banks or shelters and ask if they are in need of more food donations.

Finally

We often forget that Christmas is actually not about presents, not about trees or advent calendars. It’s about being with your loved ones, cuddling up on the sofa, eating homemade cookies or playing board games with your family. So take a moment today and give your friend, partner, child, mother, father, dog or cat a hug. That’s what the real Christmas spirit is all about.

Have a lovely weekend!

xx

*Not sponsored. This article contains unpaid links to my favorite green labels and online shops. None of it is sponsored.

This post is also available in German.

Today is Thanksgiving in the U.S. and if you don’t live on the moon, you probably know that tomorrow is Black Friday. When I lived in the U.S., I watched the Black Friday spectacle once and could not believe the masses of people camping outside of the malls. In my green bubble, Black Friday is mentioned with a lot of negative comments. I’ve read lots of articles on Black Friday consumerism, however, the green bubble tends to be a bit too radical in my opinion. Not everyone can afford to skip sales or promotions. Yes, simply not buying anything is the only way to really safe money tomorrow, but if you really need, say, a new laptop of a new phone, this day can be very important for lots of people. I know of a lot of students, who wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday to buy a laptop that they otherwise would not be able to afford. It’s not always as simple as saying, do not buy into the Black Friday madness.

That said, a recent study by pwc (German source), however, confirmed what everyone already knows anyways: most of the Black Friday sales go straight to the fashion industry. Of course, if you need a new winter jacket, if you’ve lost your hat again on the train or your winter boots are broken, tomorrow is a great day to buy these things that you really need. But we all know from experience that fashion consumerism is mostly about the things we want, not the things we need. And I am definitely no exception. Since pws’s study found that most Germans are planning on spending 254 Euros tomorrow and on Cyber Monday, I wanted to share some more eco-friendly alternatives that you can decide to spend your money on. There are so many great fair and eco-friendly labels out there, and amazing online shops that sell products with great ethics. Yes we all know we should buy less, but if we do, we might as well spend it on companies that are trying to combine consumerism with sustainabilty. While most green and sustainable labels and shops boycott Black Friday completely, others donate 100% or part of the day’s sales to good causes (such as O My Bag or Armedangels).

Before you shop online, I suggest checking out local brick and mortar stores that carry ethical labels. It’s always best to support your local community before going on the internet. Here are some ideas for online brands and shops.

Fair Fashion

Jan ‘n June

I’ve shared this amazing German brands lots of times already and I will continue to do so, because they are just so great. Jan ‘n June is one of Germany’s pioneer fair fashion brands. Their style is timeless, monochrome and effortless, and everything is ethically made in Poland and Portugal. I’ve recently treated myself to this sweater and this stylish jacket that is perfect for occasions where I need to dress it up a bit. Also, I’ve gotten plenty of compliments on this super cool pair of earrings. I also own their signature scarf, and their beanie is on my christmas wish list.

Jan ‘n June have given me a discount code that you isn’t about Black Friday madness. With the code heavenlynnhealthyxjnj you’ll get 10 % off your entire purchase.

Armedangels

One of my all-time favorite fair fashion brands is Armedangels. The Cologne-based label brings fair fashion to the people as their prices are relatively moderate and affordable. Armedangels also has great denims that are produced without harmful chemicals and use more than 65 % less water during the whole production process. I absolutely love their DetoxDenim, and the awareness for the dirty Denim-business that they have raised with their recent campaign. With the code DetoxArmyLynn you’ll get 15 % off your entire purchase (except sale) until mid december. Also, for each purchase made today and tomorrow, the company donates 10 Euros to Fridays for Future Germany.

Peopletree UK

As this is an English post, I thought I’d also include an English brand in this post. The fair fashion pioneer Peopletree is a huge name in the fair fashion industry. I especially love the variety of dresses that they offer as well as great basics for every occasion. Peopletree offers a Fair Friday Deal with 30 % off various items, making fair fashion more affordable for everyone.

Accessoires

O My Bag

The Amsterdam-based company O My Bag produces eco-friendly bags that are fair and ethically made. Ever since I discovered them in Amsterdam four years ago, I’ve been in love with their style. Tomorrow all Black Friday sales are donated for a project in India, so your purchase on Black Friday is basically a donation.

Organic beauty

Amazingy

The Berlin-based online shop ships to various locations in Europe. Amazingy has a huge selection of all well-known natural beauty brands from Pai Skincare to Josh Rosebrook or natural make-up pioneers such as Kjaer Weis. They also plant trees for all purchases all throughout December, so you feel even better about your purchases.

Yoga

hej hej

The German brand hej hej produces yoga mats out of 100% recycled materials. And in case you do not need your mat anymore, the mats can again be fully recycled. Such a great example of a sustainable and eco-friendly business idea.

Of course this is only a tiny selction of fair fashion brands and online shops. If you’re German, have a look at this post in German with a larger selection of online shops. For more sustainable and eco-friendly inspiration, check-out the british website Eco-Age, where you can find lots of fair fashion brands and labels.

I spent my summer in my kitchen writing and shooting my second cookbook. It was a lot of work, but I’m almost done, and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m really proud of the results. Unfortunately my books are only available in German for now, but you never know what happens. While I created plenty of recipes for the new book, I usually did not feel like cooking at night when we were invited to BBQs this summer. So my husband was in charge of making the potluck-salad, which was amazing. For the past few years he has been bringing basically the same salad to potlucks or BBQs. It’s safe to say that this salad is his signature salad.

The quinoa salad is full of exciting flavors, yet you can get all the ingredients in every normal supermarket. Think mint, pistachios, dates, grilled peaches and hearty sweet potatoes. Simple, yet quite elegant, and something for the eyes. Of course he changes it up a bit every time we make it depending on what’s left in the fridge. You could use any type of nut or seed, but I would recommend giving those pistachios a chance. Somehow they are the perfect crunchy addition to this quinoa BBQ salad.

Let’s have a look at the nutritional value of this salad. The basis of this salad is quinoa, which is my absolute favorite pseudo-grain. It contains all essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan, which aids the production of the happiness hormone serotonin. Hence, quinoa can literally make us happy. The high amount of fiber in the sweet potatoes helps stabilize blood sugar levels and therefore keeps us full for longer. Arugula (rocket) contains lots of bitter plant-compounds, which aid digestion.

My secret favorite in this salad are the peaches, which you can add raw or grilled. I love it grilled, when the fruit sugars start to crystalize and caramelize. Yum!

Summer holidays are almost over (at least here in Germany they are coming to a close), so it’s time to get back to work! But let’s make this year different than the others, shall we? How about buying less lunches? How about skipping dining halls? This year, we could do something crazy and bring our own lunches! Ok, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We could at least try to bring our lunch more often. Not just because it saves money, but because it cares for our body. It means putting our body first.

Ok, this was a bit theatrical, but isn’t true? With just about 90 minutes of meal prepping on Sunday, you can prepare four lunches that might even last until dinner. My boyfriend and I have tried it out, and together we needed less than 40 minutes to prepare it all. If you’re alone, you can definitely make it in under 90 minutes.

So here comes the grocery list that you’ll need to put your body first four times of the week:

Grocery list for four lunches for one hungry or two medium hungry people:

4 mason jar salads to go

Print

Ingredients

For the salads:

200 g (about 2 cups) of millet

200 g (about 2 cup) of quinoa

200 g of cherry-tomatoes

1 cucumber (you’ll need half of it for the recipes, can you can always make more for dinner)

1 bell pepper (red or yellow)

1 jar of chickpeas (about 200g drained)

1 bag of edamame (frozen, from the organic store)

1 avocado

1 small jar of kalamato olives, preferably without the stone

1 jar of sun-dried tomatoes

2 bunches of rocket

1 red onion

50 g of summer berries (z.B. blueberries, raspberries or blackberries)

100 g of blueberries

1 spring onion

60 g of almonds

60 g of walnuts

30 g of peanuts, peeled

2 EL of raisins

fresh mint

fresh cilantro

For the dressings:

olive oil

balsamico-Essig

apple cider vinegar

Dijon-mustard

peanut butter

tamari (or soy sauce)

fresh ginger

1 clove of garlic

1 lime

2 strings of fresh mint

maple syrup, rice syrup or coconut sugar to sweeten (optional)

Optional (depending on your diet)

Feta-cheese

Tofu

Goat cheese

salmon

3.5.3226

What to prepare on Sunday:
Wash all of the fresh ingredients and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Fill them in air-tight containers such as mason jars or glass containers. Cook the millet and quinoa with twice the amount of water. Millet cooks for about 20 minutes and quinoa for about 10-12 minutes. Let them cool, fluff with a fork and fill into containers.
To prepare the olive oil based dressings, simply combine all of the ingredients in a small, sealable jar. For the peanut dressing, finely chop the ginger and garlic and mix it with the other ingredients using a whisk. Store in a sealable jar in the fridge.
Layer the first two salads in your mason jars, the other two on Tuesday.
If you’re using other protein sources such as tofu, feta-cheese or salmon, you’ll need to prepare it the night before you want to eat the salad.

Stored in a mason jar, the salads stay fresh for at least two days. I hate to admit it, but in my case, they lasted from saturaday until thursday. Please trust your instincts more than my fridge situation. The recipes in this post are supposed to fit into a 950ml Ball Mason Jar and hence, are quite generous in size. Jannis and I had dinner with just one jar and a little bit of feta cheese on top. But if you’re really hungry, then go have one jar for lunch. The ingredients won’t have you crashing after two hours, but keep you satisfied for longer.

Let’s move on to the recipes. The ingredients are layered from bottom to top, the exact measurements can of course vary depending on the size of you jar. You don’t need to follow the recipes 100%. Just play around with it, have fun and don’t stress.

*Advertisment. This blogpost is not sponsored, but it includes PR-Samples.

If you’re thinking you’ve come to the wrong blog today – no, this is still Heavenlynn Healthy, the healthy food and lifestyle blog. While I love talking and writing about food, I do have other interests, too. And since this blog has a health-focus, I thought it would be interesting to write about other health-related topics from time to time. If you’ve read my last blogpost in 2017, you’ll already know that 2017 was the year where I have made a huge transformation. My mindset, which had been very focused on food and movement until then, shifted to a broader perspective.

When I started this blog, my sole focus was food and nutrition. It’s still my main focus, but a healthy lifestyle quickly leads you to question other things: what ingredients are in my cosmetics? In my detergent? How can I reduce my plastic waste? The journey quickly leads you to organic cotton in your bed linen and clothes. Of course, I am still at the veeeeeery beginning of this journey. I’m not even close to buying all organic, not even close to changing my wardrobe to fair and organic. However, I’ve come to realize that slow fashion is a lot more beautiful than fast fashion, simply because it’s made under fair circumstances.

The good thing: slow and fair fashion is absolutely not un-stylish anymore. Not even remotely. Fair fashion is fun, beautiful, modern, trendy and cool! One reason is definitely that in the past couple of years, new small brands have been established by young people with a vision AND a sense of style. They bring both ethics and style into their clothes, which makes them so hip and wearable.

A quick note:

Obviously, the most sustainable way of shopping is not to shop at all. Wearing your clothes as long as possible, repairing them, taking care of them and only buy new clothes when absolutely necessary. At this point I need to say this load and clear: I am a girl who loves beautiful things, new clothes and the feeling that new clothes give me. I do not like second hand. It’s just not my thing. However, ever since I started blogging, I naturally reduced my monthly spending for clothes to zero. Most of my money goes into food, so I do not have that much money left at the end of the month for clothes. That’s my way of sustainable fashion – buying less and buying new clothes with an educated view.

The following lables are my current favorite fashion labels

Jan ’N June

If you have not yet heard of Jan’n June, then you’re in for a treat. The two girls Jula and Anna founded their fair fashion brand during their fashion studies when they were just about 20 years old. They do not soley use organic cotton, but also recycled plastic for their pieces. The two girls quickly reallized that hopping on the fast fashion train was not what they were meant to do. With a vision to change the fast fashion industry, they founded their company, and definitely hit the nerve of time. Jan’N June is one of the most well-known brands in the German and European fair fashion world, and one of the first that I connected with. Last summer, I never stopped wearing this organic linen top organic triangle top, and this summer, the culotte and this cotton dress Iris are my favorite basic wardrobe pieces.

Wearing one of my favorite basic T-Shirts from Jan ‘n June and navy-blue trousers made out of tencel (self-bought) from Armedangels.

Cat and I (not in Mallorca, but Fuerteventura) wearing my favorite cotton dress Iris from Jan’ n June.

Wearign a summer culotte von Jan’n June (sold out, similar skirt here hier) and an old sweater from HeyHoney, and espadrilles from Lanius.

L’Amour est Bleu

Thien N’Guyen founded L’Amour est Bleu in June 2016, so the label really is still quite a newbie. Like many women who used to work in the fast fashion business, Thien started her company out of a vision to revolutionize the fashion industry. Before L’Amour est Bleu, she worked as a consultant for big brands in the industry, so she definitely knows what needs to change in this area. One oft he reasons that caught my attention with the label is that L’amour est bleu still produces in one of the only remaining factories in Germany called U&N. All of her clothes are chemical-free and many even PETA certified vegan! This organic cotton GOTS-certified blouse is one of my favorite pieces, as is this striped dress striped jersey dress, which will never go out of style (in my opinion).

For heavenlynn Healthy readers, Thien gave us an exclusive promo code. With the code „heavenlynnhealthy“, you get 10% off your entire order and free shipping is already included anyways.

Wearing the vegan blouse “Poesie” from L’Amour est Bleu.

Me & May

„We want to produce fashion that makes you happy“. This is how Me & May founder Melissa Knorr decribes her still small Munich-based fair fashion label. When she and her co-founder Mathilde founded Me & May 8 years ago, they would have never thought they would end up with an online shop and two brick & mortar stores in Munich. The two women have witnessed the change in the fashion industry from the inside, and have experienced a change in generations in their suppliers, too, which has made their production a lot easier. Me & May only produces two collections per year, they produce completely in Poland and sometimes France, which is where they get most of their inspiration from. That’s why Me & May has this French touch, with pretty dresses, feminine lines and beautiful fabrics. Their summer dress Floride has been my go-to dress this summer. I love the color – totally my style!

In order for you to get to know Me & May, they gave me a promo code for 10% off sing the code „fairfashion“ from today until July 15th 2018. You can use the code in their online shop or visit them directly in their store in Munich. Just tell them you heard about them from my blog and the promo code is yours!

I’m wearing the summer dress Floride from Me & May in Mallorca.

ManduTrap

A few months ago, I discovered the Berlin based label ManduTrap, and instantly fell in love with their style. When I saw their summer dress with flower prints, I knew I needed to be wearing it. For Mandutrap founder Win-Wha, it is important that fair fashion is not just a thing of price tags, so she wants to make it as affordable as possible while still focusing on design and sustainability criteria. When Min-Wha founded the label in 2007, there was close to no young label combining the above mentioned criteria. I especially love the following quote from the founder: I want to make something that is supposed to be beautiful actually beautiful.“ Amazing woman. Beautiful clothes. Important message. You can shop ManduTrap’s new collection here.

I am wearing the Wickelkleid Maya in a size XS – but be aware that you should order a size larger than usual, because ManduTrap is a brand for small girls like me.

Lanius Fair Fashion

Claudia Lanius is probably the fair fashion pioneer in Germany. She founded her label Lanius back in 1999! No wonder that Lanius is one of the leading labels here in Germany, and chances are that you already know Lanius. One glimpse into their online shop, and you’ll quickly see that Lanius is a pioneer when it comes to sustainable resources, and the combination of sustainable and fair fashion with trends. I am in love with the blush-colored espadrilles blush-colored espadrilles, and the summer blouson made out of hemp!

Both the espadrilles as well as the summer blouson are on sale right now!

Armedangels

If you’re into fair fashion then I probably do not need to tell you about Armedangels. The German brand is one of the first ethical and fair producing companies in Germany. They produce in Turkey and source their resources sustainably in India. Their past collections have become increasingly stylish, and I guess it’s safe to say that Armedangels is becoming one of Germany’s most stylish fashion brands. I love their basic pieces, but this year, I’ve increased my spending on this long black summer dress and these navy blue tencel trousers. The best part is that Armedangels also has a big selection of men’s clothing, and I actually learned about Armedangels through my boyfriend who has been wearing them for years!

Back in Lüneburg I am wearing the maxi dress made out of tencel (self-bought) from Armedangels

Melawear

This young label was founded at my university! Melawear have had their main office on campus for quite some time and just moved away to expand their business, which makes me so happy! Melawear is more of a skater-style kind of company, with amazing backpacks and basic shirts and sweaters, and they just released the first 100% GOTS certified sneaker this spring.

Wearing my Re-Cup and pretending to be a fashion blogger wearing an Armedangels T-shirt, Jan ‘n June culotte and grey sneakers from Melawear.

MyMarini

I have been following MyMarini’s journey for quite a long time now and it’s amazing to see how far fair fashion already reaches. Founded in Hamburg, MyMarini has expanded to one of the leading fair and sustainable swimwear brands in Europe – and their bikinis and swimsuits are even seen in the United States! I met Mareen at the Ethical Showroom this week, and it makes me so proud to see how far she’s come! From this season on, her classic collection will be made from 100% recycled plastic from the ocean, which is an amazing achievement! I have never stopped wearing my MyMarini swimsuit last year – my color is unfortunately sold out, but I would absolutely recommend the basic navy color swimsuit if you want to treat yourself to a timeless piece. Yes, I know, almost 200 euros for a swimsuit is a lot of money, who are we kidding. But if you’re like me and you’ve bought a new bikini or swimsuit every season because the old ones only lasted for one summer, you’ll see that it’s money worth investing.

Hey Honey

I’ve been telling everyone around me about Hey Honey ever since I discovered them two years ago. They’ve been my constant companion during my yoga sessions, and I have never gotten so many questions about a pair of yoga pants before. Hey Honey is the best example that fair fashion does not have to be boring and not stylish. It can be colorful, happy, trendy and cool! Hey Honey produces in Turkey and Portugal and they were recently certified as PETA approved vegan. Their cool pants are all currently on sale, so get them while you can!

Fair Fashion Inspirations:

Since I do not want to raise my finger and give you a speech about why fair fashion and sustainable fashion is important, I will let some people, who really know this industry, do the talking. If you want to learn more about this topic, I suggest you check out the following people:

Peppermynta

Peppermynta is one of the leading German online magazines with a focus on sustainability. In their magazine, you’ll find inspiration ranging from fair fashion, to eco travel, to natural cosmetics and food. Peppermynta shows, that an eco-friendly lifestyle does not mean contradict with trend and style.

Mia von HeyLilaHey

Mia and I have known each other for almost two years now. Back then, she was just about to go on her worldtrip, which I have been following closely and which inspired me to travel much more. Mia is now a full-time fair fashion blogger, but she also blogs about an eco-lifestyle in general, has a cool YouTube channel with macrame tutorials, recipes and natural cosmetics finds.

Justine von Justine Kept Calm and Went Vegan

Justine and I also know each other from way back. She is now one oft he leading fair fashion blogger in the German-speaking countries. I love her style especially because she’s my size, and sometimes I think it’s hard to dress when you’re under 1,60cm. Justine blogs about all things sustainability, and she’s not afraid to ask and talk about tabu topics such as periods or acne. Also, her boyfriend Alex is always with her, which is why her blog is also interesting for men’s fair fashion.

Bina von StryleTZ

Bina is a Hamburg-based fair fashion blogger, and also one of the leading fair fashion bloggers in the German-speaking countries. On her blog she obviously talks about fair and sustainable fashion, but also about travel, vegan recipes and natural cosmetics. Bina has her very own style, which differentiates her from other bloggers – that’s why I love following her on Instagram and reading her blog regularly.

Madeleine Adazeh von DariaDaria

If you’re new in this whole sustainability world, then Madeleine from Dariadaria should be your first follow. If you’re not new in this world, then Maddy is your big idol. I have the deepest respect for what Madeleine does – she recently quit blogging and is now focusing on her podcast „A Mindful Mess“ – where she talks about all things sustainability (mindfulness, yoga, spirituality, etc.). She also launched her own fair fashion label called Dariadeh, which has been extremely successful. Madeleine is a huge inspiration form e and many other girls out there, which is amazing because I think that we need more people like Maddy who function as role-models for younger generations.

Anina von Aniahimsa

Anina started out as an Instagrammer and recently launched her own blog where she publishes vegan recipes, articles about a sustainable lifestyle and her deepest thoughts. We have known each other for quite some time but never met in real life (I hope this will change soon). Anina also travels a lot, so be sure to check out her travel diaries on her blog, too.

Charlotte Weise

Model und #Selflove-activist Charlotte Weise is only in her mid-twenties, but talks like she’s been on this earth for way longer. It makes me happy that there are influencers like Charlotte that young girls can follow. I wish I had been able to follow her back when I was 14 or 15. Charlotte talks about things such as body positivity, about loving yourself, about sex, about the pill and about FKK. Charlotte is different than others, dances it out regularly, which may seem strange in the beginning, but totally natural once you’ve followed her for quite some time. Go follow her to see it for yourselves.

Marie Nasemann from Fairknallt

Marie used to be a candidate on Heidi Klum’s Germany’s Next Topmodel, and has now become one of the most prominent fair fashion advocates in the German fashion industry. She launched her blog Fairknallt only last year, but it has quickly become one of the Go-To places for people interested in fair fashion. On Marie’s blog you can find a pretty good guide with sustainable and fair fashion brands, which I check out regularly.

The post Go Green – my current favorite fair fashion labels appeared first on Heavenlynn Healthy.
