Hi everyone! Welcome to Heavenlynn Healthy – a food blog with delicious and healthy recipes. I’m Lynn, German-native, foodie, runner and granola lover, and integrative Nutrition and Health Consultant in the making. This blog is my way of sharing my passion for healthy and delicious food with the world. I’m not trying to lecture anyone to eat better or differently, I simply want to share my way of eating and living, and hopefully inspire some of you with my delicious and healthy recipes.
A few years ago I was diagnosed with a severe form of hypertension. Since I was already an active, normal weight, healthy eating young woman, this came as quite a shock. I visited several doctors and specialists, but they all told me the same thing: that I had to rely on heavy drugs my whole life. Not wanting to accept this destiny, I started researching for alternative medicine. The plant-based diet, I found, was most suitable for hypertensive patients, and has been shown to drastically lower blood-pressure. Going plant-based was a drastic change, but I managed to eat completely plant-based, gluten-free, and processed sugar-free for 5 months. Surprisingly, it worked. I was not able to completely get off my meds yet, but I could at least lower the doses. This was one year ago, and I have been trying to stick to this diet ever since. However, eating this way is not always easy. Although my friends were all very understanding and open, I realized that strictly adhering to this diet is exhausting and even a bit unsocial. That’s why I now try to eat healthy whenever I can, but I do not give myself a hard time whenever I don’t. Our body can handle some “bad” food from time to time. At least, that’s what a healthy liver is for. It is a natural detoxifier and I do allow myself to rely on it from time to time.
Whenever I can however, I try to cook from scratch because I simply love all the goodness that you can do for your body by adding delicious healthy foods to your diet. I try to avoid processed foods whenever I can, and this is probably the one rule that I really manage to stick to all the time. I don’t eat fast foods and I only eat at restaurants that make their food from scratch, too.
I have recently started nutrition school, and I am on my way to become an integrative nutrition and health coach. I hope you will love some of my recipes just as much as I do, and be inspired by this healthy way of living.
Have an amazing and healthy day everyone!
xx Lynn
